The Airborne Toxic Event \\ Piano's \\ NY, NY \\ 5.2.11

Last week The Airborne Toxic Event played 5 shows in Los Angeles at local venues in order of size (small to large).  They did it in London the week before.  This week, they tackle 5 of New York's most special venues in the order they played them, starting with Piano's tonight (Monday).  I work with the band (full disclosure) but even so, thought it was really great.  I am really digging the new album, in particular a few of the songs ("All For A Woman", "All At Once", "Half Of Something Else").

The Airborne Toxic Event played two sets at SXSW 2011, one private and one official showcase.  Pics from the latter are finally getting some Fresh Bread love.  I may be biased, but I am loving the new (almost-released) album and hope you'll give it a listen.

After I spent Halloween weekend in Indio with about 50k other people to see Phish's Festival 8, I went to San Fran for work and the Airborne Toxic Event at The Fillmore.  Finally getting around to posting the photos, with most of them here.

In typical blog years, SXSW '09 was a lifetime ago.  I only saw a handful of shows over the four days I was there, though Metallica @ Stubb's definitely made up for that.  I saw a couple of my company's bands, including The Airborne Toxic Event at the Rachel Ray day party at Maggie Mae's.  I really enjoyed the set, including the first time seeing them cover Lazzerus' "Goodbye Horses".  You can hear a stream of a different live performance of that cover here.
