Lily Allen landed stateside last week, performing on SNL and unleashing her version of British charm on America via MTV Discover and Download Tour. Lily was so bloggy last year she made 2005 CYHSY! buzz look like Fall Out Boy love on hipster blogs.
I have been avoiding the Lily bandwagon hardcore since last summer's blog buzz. I don't know, it just wasn't dynamic enough for me. I dug the reggae vibes thrown into her songs but just could not be won over by her rhymes. I figured I would try again with open arms when her album was released in the US at the end of January. I was pleasantly surprised with this show...definitely endeared me to her. She totally got bonus points for rocking some sweet Jordan III Retro's. Her bouncy, laid back vibe on stage was infectious. "LDN" was the perfect opener. Seeming quite comfortable on stage, Lily and her band led a house party at Webster Hall.
I won't claim this to be the best show I've seen but I won't purposely avoid listening to her music anymore. It will be hard to imagine her not having a spectacular 2007 in America.
