Here this right now: America is back...well not that they went anywhere...but they are sounding better than ever. You might think that playing at least one hundred shows a year for the last thirty years might make a band jaded when it comes to performing and recording. You would be incorrect in making that assumption with regards to these road dogs.
America took time away from recording their next album (a double album due out October 17th on Sony's Burgandy Records) to play BB King's to a lively, attentive audience. Helping them produce the album are James Iha and Adam Schlesinger. Both joined the band (along with Ryan Adams) on the well-received encore of "Horse With No Name". Aside from the monster encore jam, I really enjoyed "Sandman" to close the set.
It'll be interesting which friends end up collaborating with the Gerry and Dewey on the new album...
p.s. - James Iha confirmed he would NOT be participating in the upcoming Smashing Pumpkins reunion backstage after the show
Ryan was wearing almost that same exact outfit when i ran into on Saturday night
