Ashville, NC's newest sensation is Toubab Krewe. Justin recomends them. Apparently, so does Superfly.
Toubab Krewe blend west african rhythms and instraments with rock and roll, producing an infectious toe-tapping sound. I downloaded their self-titled debut album from e-music a few weeks back...it gets plenty of spins on the breadPod II.
Other than the fact one of the band members was wearing a Cantona-styled Manc jersey, the show was excellent. I would also add it seems as if only the percussionist is having a good time on stage...however, If you have any interest in world/african music, definitely check out the Krewe.
Ya know, I did notice that exact same thing about them. They seemed "half" into it, not in the most terrible way, but they just didn't seem like they were even feeling their own rhythms.

I like what these guys do and the direction that their music takes, but I've never seen them live. They are playing out here in May at Cafe DuNord, so we may try to check that out.

Excited that we'll be having TK back up in VT this week. A show here in Montpelier on Thurs and then in Burlington on Friday. Hopefully they'll feel the vibe playing in the state of their conception.
Great shots!
