Former jamband, Dave Matthews Band, are soliciting the help of their fan base. The band wants to know what your suggestions are for opening bands on this Summer's DMB tour. I think this is a great idea....I also think bands should take polls and have fans choose one song per show. That would be cool but I digress...
here's what the band has to say:
Dave Matthews Band is interested in polling its fanbase to see what artist(s) you would like to see perform as support act(s) on the summer 2006 tour. Please submit the names of up to five artists in the order of your preference
I know it's so anti indie to like DMB but there were once amazing....*dreams of shows seen from 95-98* I am really questioning why I am not going to see Dave and Friends on their Island Getaway...Dave and Trey. Trey and Dave. same stage. Oh to win the Mega Millions!
isn't that superbowl weekend?
...blasphemy

I used to be the same way. I loved them when they came out, saw them abandon most of the jamming and kind of wrote them off.
I've gotten back into them lately though. I know a lot of people mock them, but whatever, they're good at what they do. I've gotten too old (29) to care what people think of my tastes in music anymore.
Oh yeah, I like Rush too. :D

Oh yeah...
I saw them about 15 times between '94 and '97. Those were good days for them.
I saw DMB open for Phish in '94. Good times.
That's awesome that hey're polling fans about openers though, but the Phish & Dead fan in me is inclined to suggest "nobody."

Maybe they will open with your favorite song "Stay"

Stay Bwoy - I haven't liked that song since you screamed the words along with DMB at greensboro 11.28.98...right behind me.
