Do yourself a favor - go see Brooklyn-based Akron/Family next time they are anywhere near you. This band is truly one of a kind. They sit down to get down.
I've been listening to both of their albums (available at emusic.com); the self-titled and a collaboration with Angels of Light. They have completely taken over my iPod's rotation for the past couple weeks...with good reason. Songs like 'Italy', 'Running, Returning', 'Future Myth', and others are on constant rewind. They definitely invoke sounds similar to Led Zep and Radiohead; folky in the vein of Devendra Banhart; mix it all together with a heavy dose of experimentation (using all sorts of instruments) and you've got an incredibly raw but talented band.
This show was met with high anticipation by me and I must say the
Family did not disappoint. Highlights were 'Running, Returning' and 'Future Myth'. Lowlight - Akron not having t-shirts for sale...

It was a fun concert. Their energy was amazing and they definitely are crowd pleasers. I like my music loud and when they're loud they rock.

DanFun -- Sweet concert shots! What type of equipment are you using and do you have a press pass when you are taking the shots?
