Toots & The Maytals last week at BB Kings was the Bam-Bam!! All the classics had my knees going high, from the opener "Reggae Got Soul," through the middle when he gave us "Never Get Weary," "Time Tough," "Pressure Drop," through the encore of "Country Roads." His never ending energy and sweet outfits (really, who picks 'em for ya, Toots?) always bring a smile to my face and joy to my ears.
I'll be venturing over to Times Square this Wednesday night...on purpose...to see one of my favorites, Toots & The Maytals. The father of reggae performs now in his forty-second year as singer with the same youthful exuberance as he did when he first coined the word reggae (1968's "Do The Reggay"). They always deliver an amazing performance and I'm glad I glanced at BB's show listings for the first time in 2008 yesterday. Tickets are still available.
