It really has been a while since I gave FB a TJIF post. This week I'll dip into the Youtube archive and pluck a solid live performance of Jimmy Cliff performing "Many Rivers To Cross" in 1984. I dedicate this to LeRoi.
Thank Jah!!! It's Friday. Haven't done one of these in a long time. My apologies. This video is truly mind blowing. During a Damien Marley show last year at the House of Blues in LA, Stevie Wonder surprises the Marley brothers on an encore performance of Bob's "Could You Be Loved." Mos Def and Ben Harper also join in on the fun. Peep this:
Thank Jah!!! It's Friday. Seriously. Long week. Need weekend. Sweet, glorious weekend.
Any band would get a stiffy to be able to post reviews like the ones in the "about" section on Future Clouds And Radar's myspace page. Pretty impressive....and to think the music is really good too. So you ask what the hell does this have to do with reggae Friday? On the band's most recent self titled double album there is a cover of Bob Marley and the Wailers track "Wake Up and Live." The album has even been named in some "Best Albums of 2007" lists. Check both versions below:

It's been a while since I last gave a Jah Friday mp3 selection...it took some pretty sweet news to bring it on but here we are. From the Fire On the Mountain: Reggae Tribute to Grateful Dead come these two excellent covers:
"Sugaree" - Gregory Isaacs.mp3
"Fire On the Mountain" - Chalice.mp3
As I was saying, some excellent news spurred this post: I will be able to jam on 18 classic Grateful Dead tunes in the upcoming EA/Harmonix music video game, Rock Band. Awesome. Stale Bread - Rock Band first footage
Thank Jah!!! It's Jamaica Week.
Thursday I am going on my first trip to Jamaica....Seen!!! I really couldn't be more excited. A trip to Bob's house may or may not happen (hopefully it will). However, just to go there makes me feel jah blessed.

Peep this excellent video of young Ziggy Marley during his first big public performance at a tribute concert to his father. Zig, the Wailers, and I-Threes lay down a serious reggae p-dropper. The audio of this performance is available on the highlights disc of Sunsplash '81.
Ziggy is playing the Irving Plaza this Thursday (tix still available).
