Check another storied NYC venue off my "must visit" list. Thursday night, Carnegie Hall went Jersey on us with a massively entertaining tribute to the BOSS - Bruce Springsteen. Knitting Factory Founder Michael Dorf (Bob Dylan Tribute, Joni Mitchell Tribute) put together another stellar lineup of artists to interpret some of Bruce's greatest songs.

The event was more than I expected and was a flat out success if not just for the money raised for Music For Youth.

Some standout performances were the Hold Steady, Holmes Brothers and kids, Pete Yorn, Joseph Arthur, and the BOSS. Patti Smith's performance was notable just because she hawked a loogie on the stage.

The most excited person in the house had to be Hold Steady front man Craig Finn who was going spastic, blasting his smile to the top of the hall.

Great shots, from everything I've seen/read looks like a night to remember.

The evening was fantastic. One band that stood outin my eyes (and ears)were the Low Stars. What a bunch of talented guys. Great guitar players with beautiful voices. Their version of One Step Up was great! Hope to find them around again soon!!

Thanks so much for posting these, they are fantastic! So bummed I missed what looks like a truly unique evening.

I concur - it was a classic loogie by Patti Smith. And the Hold Steady stole the show, in my book.
